User Agreement

1. Developer and scope SnipPin is provided by sixiang yang, an individual developer. This Agreement covers the free desktop features supplied with this release: screenshots, pinned images, annotations, scrolling capture, screen recording and local optical character recognition (OCR). The accompanying document header states the document version, fixed effective date, reviewed release territories and developer contact email. Accounts, payments, subscriptions and cloud AI services are outside the current service scope.

2. Permission to use SnipPin Subject to this Agreement and applicable law, you may install and use the supplied free features for your personal or business purposes without an account or subscription fee. You retain your rights in the content you capture or create. No right to use another person's content, confidential information or trademarks is granted by SnipPin.

3. Your content and responsibilities Capture, record, copy and share only content you are entitled to use. Obtain any permissions and provide any notices required for recording people, communications or confidential information. Do not use SnipPin to infringe intellectual property, privacy or other rights, or to bypass operating-system security or protected-content restrictions. You choose what to capture, where to save it and which applications receive copied or exported content.

4. Local processing and permissions Basic capture, editing, OCR and recording process content on your device without uploading it to the SnipPin developer. These features can create local working files, exports, clipboard representations, preferences and diagnostic records as explained in the Privacy Policy. Screen, accessibility and audio permissions support the relevant features described in the User Guide. You can manage permissions in your operating-system settings; refusing a required permission may prevent that feature from working. Operating-system and third-party runtime data practices are explained separately below and in the Privacy Policy.

5. Results and safety OCR, scrolling capture, redaction, recording and export may produce errors or incomplete results. Review important output before relying on or sharing it and keep backups of important files. Verify that sensitive information is concealed in the final exported file. Device capabilities, permissions, installed OCR languages and protected content may limit results. SnipPin is not designed for safety-critical use.

6. Third-party components and Microsoft runtime protection Third-party components remain subject to their applicable licenses and notices. Those terms do not transfer ownership to you or to the SnipPin developer, and this Agreement does not reduce rights granted by an applicable open-source license or rights that mandatory law protects. Third-party licenses are available offline in SnipPin. For Windows, the installer also presents the applicable Microsoft runtime terms before you accept the installation terms.

Microsoft Visual C++ runtime components supplied with SnipPin may be used only as permitted by the applicable Microsoft component terms. They are supplied as part of SnipPin to support its functionality; this Agreement grants no right to extract and redistribute, sublicense, sell, rent or offer them as a standalone product. Do not alter those runtime files or remove, hide or change Microsoft or other suppliers' copyright, trademark, license or other required notices. Do not work around their technical restrictions or reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble them, except to the extent mandatory law or an applicable third-party license expressly permits despite this restriction.

Microsoft retains its intellectual property rights in its components. No license to Microsoft trademarks, logos or branding is granted by this Agreement. Do not describe SnipPin or a redistributed copy as a Microsoft product or imply Microsoft endorsement. Microsoft does not provide SnipPin support or warranties on behalf of its developer. The warranties, disclaimers, liability provisions and mandatory-law exceptions applicable to Microsoft components are those in the component terms supplied with this release. Nothing here adds a Microsoft warranty or removes protection those terms give Microsoft or its suppliers.

Any redistribution requires a separate legal right to redistribute SnipPin and each included component. Where redistribution is permitted, keep authorized runtime files unmodified, retain all required licenses and notices, include the applicable runtime terms, and require distributors and external end users to agree to terms that protect the Microsoft components and Microsoft at least as much as the applicable Microsoft terms. Obtain Microsoft components only from authorized Microsoft sources. Do not substitute an unreviewed version or distribute a component marked Preview, Pre-release or Beta under the release-component permission. No rights to Visual Studio, Build Tools or development utilities are granted to SnipPin end users. These restrictions do not override rights an applicable open-source component license or mandatory law grants you.

7. Windows WebView2 information The Windows application includes Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (Fixed Version) for its interface. It includes Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, enabled by default in the reviewed configuration, which collects and sends information to Microsoft as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement at https://privacy.microsoft.com/ and the SmartScreen section of Microsoft's User data and privacy in Microsoft Edge documentation. WebView2 may also process required diagnostic and crash information under Microsoft's terms and Windows settings. Refer to the supplied Microsoft terms and the Privacy Policy for the applicable disclosures. This notice does not change SnipPin's requirement that its basic feature paths operate offline or authorize the SnipPin developer to upload your captured content.

8. Installation acceptance and updates On Windows, the installer presents this Agreement and the supplied Microsoft runtime terms offline before installation. Choose I Agree to accept those terms and proceed; choose Cancel if you do not agree. Merely downloading a release, opening a document, or choosing Skip or Get Started in the welcome tour does not record acceptance. Silent and passive installation are not supported in this release because they must not bypass this step. Changing a document version requires renewed review of the applicable acceptance requirements; a previous acceptance is not automatically extended to new terms.

Update checking is separate from the free features, with automatic checking off by default. A production update service remains unavailable until its source, verification and release requirements are satisfied. No continuous update or support commitment is made. Installation of an update must follow the applicable notice and acceptance requirements; this Agreement does not authorize silent upgrades that bypass them.

9. Ending use You may stop using or uninstall SnipPin at any time. Uninstalling does not necessarily remove exported files, clipboard files, preferences or diagnostics; see the Privacy Policy for local retention and removal information. Removing the application does not remove another application's copies of content you shared.

10. Warranties, liability and mandatory rights To the extent permitted by applicable law, SnipPin is supplied as available without a promise of uninterrupted or error-free operation. This does not exclude mandatory warranties, consumer remedies, liability for fraud or intentional misconduct, or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Applicable Microsoft component terms govern the protection of Microsoft components and their suppliers, subject to their stated mandatory-law exceptions. Your mandatory local rights and access to competent courts remain unaffected. This Agreement does not impose arbitration, a class-action waiver, a chosen foreign court or a blanket liability cap for SnipPin itself; separately supplied third-party terms must be read on their own terms.

11. Versions and contact Revisions identify their own version and fixed effective date and accompany the relevant release. Material new services or uses of information require the applicable additional terms, notices and legally required choices before they begin. Questions about SnipPin or this Agreement may be sent to sixiang yang using the contact email in this document's header.
