Frequently asked questions

Install trouble, what works, and what is uploaded — all here.

Does the free version go online?

Capture, pin, markup, long capture and on-device text stay offline. Update checks follow your setting; optional resources such as OCR language packs are installed by you in the OS, and SnipPin does not download them.

Are my screenshots uploaded?

No. Free features are processed on this computer only. The one network path is the update check you enable yourself. Staying offline on free paths is a hard rule, not a slogan.

The installer failed or showed a security warning. What now?

Start at the download page: check that build's signature status and checksum, then follow the help steps. We never tell you to switch off security software or to "just ignore the warning".

Which systems and architectures are supported?

Windows 11 x64 and macOS 12 or later at launch. Linux is not in v1. ARM builds and store channels do not exist yet.

What happens when a Pro allowance runs out?

How the official AI service behaves past its allowance is still being planned. No numbers and no prices are promised today.

How many computers can I install it on?

The free version has no device limit. A Pro device limit belongs to a later stage and does not apply to free.

Which languages can it recognize?

Whatever recognition resources your system has installed; English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean are in scope. When a resource is missing you get a prompt saying where to add it — never a fake success.

How do I contact you?

Contact details are published after the site goes live. There is no email address, no form and no newsletter collection today.

Questions without an answer say so. We do not invent a plausible-looking number.
